How to properly start RACING Go-Karts...?

Question

I really need help by someone telling me on how to start racing them. I'm talking about the one that go around 60 mph and are close to the ground. I'm in serious need because I have a passion for driving! Any help, tips, ot Ideas would be appreciated!

There is a lot to racing go karts. First you need to pick what class you will be running this will dictate which kart and motor you need to get. You will probably want to run something aside to the open classes. It has been a while since I have been on the racing scene which I used to frequent with my brother. You will have to sink a lot of money into it to be competitive. Most people have 2-3 karts, 10+ different sets of tires for the different kinds of conditions(you also want to decide if you are going to run dirt or asphalt), 2-3 motors or more, and back up parts and a trailer to haul them in. Not saying you can't do it with just one kart and a truck but like I said if you like racing then you probably want to win. Frequent the local tracks and find someone that is willing to help you get into it. You may get lucky and find someone wanting to sell a setup for cheap.

find a spec class. if u live in indiana go to mt lawn speedway and try the Indy faskarts. Thats where i started and now i am racing late models. they are a spec class that races on the oval. they are cheep to run. the most expensive thing is buying the car to start. everything else is relatively cheap. tire are only $20 a peice, the motors can last 2 full seasons before being rebuilt. I would recommend racing in rotax because those go pretty fast and they're fun.....
