The Formula 1 racing cars have very high power engines. During the initial stages of F1 (during the late 1940s to early 1950s) the engines had a power ranging between 300 to over 500 Hp. The engines were reduced in capacity several times by the mid 60s.

After 1966 power slowly started going up again, and during the 1980's some cars even had more than a 1000 Hp in qualifying trim. This was the time when turbo chargers were allowed.

After 1988 the turbo chargers were banned and eventually the engine Hp started coming down to around 600 Hp. After the year 2000 strong F1 race winning cars have produced over 900 Hp at the peak of the V10 era.

Today, Formula One engines have anywhere between 800-1000 horsepower. It depends on the constructor. They also put out about 17000-18000rpm.

Hope I helped!

To begin with, F1 cars aren't avenue-authorized. It might be possible to have a vehicle chase, and take into account that the vehicle is not going to endure any injury whether it is set up appropriately and it has an educated driver in the back of the wheel. I mean, F1 races on the streets of Monaco! A full tank will not get you too far, however it probably sufficient for 150-200 km, that's if your engine does not cry "adequate" earlier than that, and after a couple of seconds self-destructing with a ton of smoke pouring out of the again. Plus the tires put on out lovely speedily, graining and blistering are essential problems which purpose loss of grip and even tires exploding. But you could nonetheless go at 235mph if you have the vehicle mounted for minimum downforce and minimal drag, like for Monza or the historic Hockenheim.

days of the v10s they were 900bhp for the good teams and for the minardis and anyone else at the back fo the grid they were 800bhp

now with these v8s they are 750bhp and the back of the grid teams are not as slow in comparison due to the engine freeze put in place so they are running about 50bhp less but with the v6s coming in from 2014 it will change again and they will get slower in terms of bhp
